How to be dandy in the city? Be in the city!
Some weeks ago I was in Rotterdam, the second city in Holland and known for the ships. Originally an old trading place. Downtown Rotterdam has been destroyed in WOII. A modern urban city came instead. Many don’t like the modernity of the new city. Though, the urban vibe in Rotterdam is excellent. What is nice however is that still a lot of the city’s history exists. And above all the maritime history. For me the maritime history is one with style and elegance. For me that is linked with cigars, gentlemen traveling in style to the New World, well-designed ocean liners, copper brass, etc.
I stayed at Hotel New York, the former art deco headquarters of the Holland America Line. Top of the bill to experience maritime class. The corner room had a great view onto the city. I had dinner at Dertien, a great vegan lunch at Spirit, and moved around with Water Taxi. The nice thing in Rotterdam is that you need to search before you’ll find the hotspot. Other than Amsterdam where hotspots and historical places lying directly in front of you.
Rotterdam is an excellent context for a dandy: classic and modern, style, hidden class, good food, architecture. Last but certainly nog least: off the beaten track. So this dandy went to Rotterdam for an outfit shoot. This shoot was made around Rotterdam Central Station.
The outfit I wear:
You might have seen this coat before, but I love this one so much..!
