How to be dandy in the city? Part 2 of being in the city!
More precisely: Hotel New York.

Hotel New York – back to vintage

Rotterdam is a great city for the dandy. In Part 1 of my Rotterdam outfit post I said that Rotterdam features a lot of end 19th/early 20th century traces with a interesting mix of modernity. The urban vibe in Rotterdam is excellent.
Absolute highlight is Hotel New York – the former headquarters of the Holland America Line. The building in which the present hotel resides is built in art deco style and features a lot of art deco details. The former maritime owner knew what a representative style used to be.

The building still breathes the spirit of ships, ocean liners, class, elegance and cigars. So this place was ideal for me to stay for the night. It was like I was about to travel to the States the next day. I was to wait for my ship to leave. And if I would, this would be quite relaxing with the good wine on the room and the comfortable beds.

The hotel offers a view on the city and river. The hotel is surrounded by water and hub for the Rotterdam Water Taxi to move around the city in style.

The style of the hotel building offered a superb background for a fashion shoot. I chose an outfit which matched with the background. I gave it a vintage 1920s touch – ready to leave by ocean liner. Ready to travel first class.
